Queensland Foundation has launched the permanent digital identity layer for Queensland.
Permanent onchain top-level domains are now live — .queensland, .qld, .brisbane, .brisbane2032, .gold-coast and .surfersparadise — giving every Queenslander, business and community organisation a permanent digital address that cannot be taken away, renewed or expired.
What Queensland Foundation has built
Queensland Foundation is the registry and steward of Queensland’s permanent onchain namespace. Every address registered on the platform is minted on blockchain infrastructure via Freename — permanently recorded, cryptographically verifiable, and owned by the key holder without annual renewal or registrar dependency.
The registry covers the full geography and identity of Queensland: state-wide identity through .queensland and .qld, city-level identity through .brisbane, aspirational identity through .brisbane2032, and regional identity through .gold-coast and .surfersparadise.
Why now
Queensland is entering a decade defined by two forces: the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, and a global shift toward self-sovereign digital identity. Queensland Foundation was created to position Queensland at the intersection of both.
The .brisbane2032 namespace gives every athlete, organisation, venue and brand associated with the Games a permanent digital address that will outlast the closing ceremony. The .queensland and .qld namespaces give every Queenslander a permanent home on the internet, owned by them, not rented from a registrar.
Who can register
Every handle in the Queensland namespace is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Addresses start from $5 and are owned permanently. There are no annual fees and no expiry.
Registrations are available at queensland.foundation/tld.
